All calves are pasture born and raised.
The cows are moved to new pastures daily, followed by the sheep. Seeing that cows prefer tall grass, they enter new pastures first. Most parasites that affect sheep, do not affect cows. These parasites sit high up on vegetation, waiting for sheep to either pass by or eat them to gain access to the digestional tract. However, if the cows enter first, these parasites will be consumed and killed within the cows. This will reduce the populations as well as the impact and need for medicine for the sheep.
After reducing the average height of the grass, the cows are moved to the adjacent pasture whereby the sheep will enter and consume the preferred shorter grasses.
